hyper tech or sct??

whats going on guys? i have the hyper tech module in my truck now they say around 120 horse power gains cant find the torque numbers though it was in the truck when i bought it, from what i read hyper tech was designed to haul up to the gvw that ford recommends with no problems... wondering if i should keep what i have or upgrade to the sct i was about to order it but i thought i would see what you guys had to say this guy i know has blown his up twice within 40k towing with the sct and has everything done to the motor i normally dont haul a trailer but when i do its another vehicle down to the mud holes and do some decent long drives here and there. any help?? thanks!!!

First off for the 6.0 I have never seen anyone with any sense not reccomend the sct tuner. Second do your self a favor get a tuner and a seprate device to monitor gauges or get analog gauges.

Hyper-tec advertises that it's a safe tuner! I had the hyper-tec shift on the fly module on my truck for about a year and had to get headgaskets and rebuild the trans!! I did get to dyno with it once 377hp/705tq set on the highest level. If your looking for the best programer for the 6.0, go with sct w/custom tunes.

But with any tune (edge,banks,hyper-tec,sct,ect) you are living on barrowed time with the stock TTY bolts.

I run the X-cal 2 and love it. It is starting to become out of date, but oh well, it still works. I'm not a fan of the livewire because of its enormous size and the fact that I have always loved watching the gauges move as I push the throttle down. Personally, I would try to sell the Hypertec and get an SCT, if for nothing else, the tranny tuning.

As for your friend that has blown his up twice while pulling with the SCT, you can't leave the SCT on the highest setting and expect your truck to handle the extra power with all the stress you are already putting on the truck. Cylinder Pressures go through the roof when pulling with the SCT on a Performance tune, trust me, I have blown my HG's by doing the same thing Live and Learn

Oh, and to get custom tunes written, just get a hold of Innovative, RCD, Cale, Vivian, Elite, etc. They can get you whatever you need.

I've never tried Hypertech but I am running SCT X3 with custom tunes from Innovative. I love mine. Like the other guys say. Do not tow with it tuned up though. These trucks are made to tow big weight from the factory.
