Tunes across Strategies

I've heard it a dozen times, but never has it been confirmed, to me. Can you actually run tunes written for one strategy, with a different strategy? As in, I have tunes for VXAP1. Can I run those same tunes with VXAP2?

Certain strategy's you can, but not all. If it's the same family of strategy, it may work ok. It'll never be 100%.

I don't recommend it in most cases, since you are only referring to the engine strategy. With the SCT software, the engine and trans strategy is coupled. So, if Ford changes to a different trans strategy, you aren't running the correct "version" for your truck.

That explains a lot. Thanks.

I was just wondering if it would work. I have files written for VXAP1, and the dealer reflashed my truck (long story), and now I have VXAP2. I didn't know if my old files would still work, or not.

You're saying it runs better with the tunes from the previous strategy?? Odd.

I went from VXCF4 to VXCF9, after burning up a couple computers in this damn thing I haven't had the balls to load a CF4 tune in it to see what happens

I noticed after going to VXCF9 strat I ordered a new tune for that particular strat and when loaded the truck shows VXCF2 as the strategy. I assume any VXCF_ strategy tune would work?
