Tuner with pilot injection active

Hello all,
Is there anyone running a tuner that has pilot injection active? If so, what tuner? How many miles since installation? Any problems so far?

Thanks
Ryan

Ryan,

We can turn on PI on some strategy's. Not all of them will support it. Ford used the older PI tables for other control.

Eric, does PI have any negative effects, like increased injector wear since they are firing twice instead of once? Also, can it lead to more problems later on when you start having stiction problems? I'd love to make mine quieter when I get tunes from you, but only if there are no negative effects. Thanks!

I'm actually not sure about long term wear. I have customers that have been running PI since 2003 and haven't had any complaints. Personally, I don't care for PI on the 6.0L very much. The transition from PI to standard Injection is less than smooth and noticable, especially on a higher power tune. On a near stock tune, it's not bad.

Does it only do PI at idle with no throttle input?

You can do that, but I usually run it up to 1200rpms, so you don't feel it taking off.

Cartmena. Doug @ gogo said he was using pi on his truck. Might be a good person to ask about it.

I think I've decided to not use PI, but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks
