i would imagine that the trans is the same but everything else is different, they are both zf5 or zf6

the internals on the trans are the same, BUT bell housing on the 6.0 trans is smaller (same as V10 and 5.4 V8 gasser) then the 7.3 bell.

I bought a 4x4 6 speed out of 2003 V10 to convert my '01 7.3 F350 from 2wd to 4wd. I took both trannys and just swapped the cases it was not to bad, and it worked.

I even think the ratios on the ZF 6 speeds are the same gas or diesel I know on the ZF5 the ratios are much wider on the gasser tranny then the diesels

No a 6.0 6sp is different than a 7.3 my boss has a 6.0 and when it went out he found alot of 7.3 trans, but they wouldn't work. I believe the bolt pattern is different and I know for a fact that the input shaft on a 6.0 is way bigger. Don't let a trans place tell you it will bolt in that's what they did with him and he had a hard time taking it back, I hope this helps.

Finally on the road but needing lots of little problems fixed, injectors are in the works once the economy gets better

The bolt pattern on the 6.0 trans is smaller then the 7.3.

Are you switching from an auto?

Don't quote me on this, but I think the only thing that you are going to need that is different is the flywheel. I have a +05 zf6 in my truck from Midwest Transmissions. The case bolted right up without a problem. You might contact Midwest to see what they have to say. They are quality folk and diesel nuts to boot.

early '99 converted to late '99 F-350 dually, 4x4, 4 door, long bed, 6 speed. Midwest transmissions 05+ zf-6 transmission with their short throw shifter and SB clutch. Rosewood 180cc with 80% nozzles, Termy modded 17* HPOP, International bellowed up pipes, fs-2500, DP Tunes. A few other things here and there...
dually club member.. Why replace 5 tires when you can replace seven? I like my training wheels...

No it will not bolt up. The bolt pattern is way different. Caleb you have the 05 up 6.0L guts in your transmission that we built for you. The internals are way better. If you have any questions pm me or give me a call at my shop 888-824-2012.
