Question New truck and have a few ?

I just bought a 2000 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 with 7.3L Power Stroke with automatic transmission from a friend. It was bone stock and was pampered its whole life. Has 136,000 miles on it and is all highway miles. They towed 1 time with it with a fair load of about 6000 on a car trailer to New York and bobbed the trailer back to Kansas and averaged 19MPG. Other then that it has been a daily driver. Now I have added 4"exhaust, K&N filter, valve body upgrade and a 6 position chip that is programmed for 1-stock, 2-High Idle, 3-60 pull, 4-80 pull, 5-80 economy, and 6-140 extreme race from Brians Truck Shop, and gauges for tranny temp which runs at around 140-160 degrees, exhaust which runs around 550-650 and boost that run 2-5LBS in town and 7-10 on the flats on the highway. But i only get 9MPG in town and 14-15MPG on highway. My tires are 315-75/16 Mickey Thompsons MTZ's
Now with all that said my ?s are.
Are these good temps and boost How can I get better MPG?
How would I know if i needed new injectors how often are they changed out?

your boost is way low where do you have the gauge hooked up? exhaust should be more than that also, where is your temp probe? tranny i dont know, when you get that mileage what setting are you on and how fat is your foot on the skinny?

injectors can go in no time and sometimes they can last forever, mine lasted 294,000 but my work truck had new ones at 200,000 and i just had 3 replaced at 248,000. other people with injector experience will chime in im sure, i changed mine out cause the truck was running rough and would not start without help

Thanks. The probe is in the exhaust manifold on drivers side. Boost is T'd into the vacuum line that the directions told me to T in to. when I stand on her which I have only done a few time it will go up to 22-25 Lbs. I have been running on 80HP Economy getting 14MPG. On stock setting before the chip i was getting 16.9 on the highway and 11 in town. I drive pretty straight forward and seldom hog it at all or so I think just don't ask my wife. I do realize this is not a sports car even though I know it will smoke a stock mustang.

Your 35" tires are killing your mileage.

Your boost sounds fine for normal driving conditions. I agree the 35 inch tires are prolly killing your fuel mileage. When they got the fuel mileage they did in it, was it stock size tires or same that you have on it right now?

I think his boost sounds a little high... flat on the highway at 70 MPH I'm at 4-5 lbs.

Get rid of the k & n, put the stocker back in until you can get an AFE in my opinion. There are alot of guys that are totally againstthe k & n for these engines, if i remember right the k&n's let a lot of dust thru and engines don't like that. Hpw about driving the truck around for a while and get out and feel around all four wheels, these trucks have a tendency to have the brakes lock up once in a while. I have seen alot of the brake pins sieze up and cause this. Just a thought, hope something helps.

On the hunt for a 7.3 preferably CC or Ext. Cab SB...Let me know of any deals.

i would say the 35's combined with a 4" exh killed your mileage. I have an 03 7.3 auto cc sb 2wd. I put an AFE stage 1 air intake on it, edge juice with attitude, stock 3" factory exh and was averaging 19-20 mpg's in town and 24-26 hwy. Swapped in a 4" turbo back MBRP and mpg's went to 15-16.5 city 19 hwy. Guess I need a AFE stage 2 intake to balance airflow back out..IDK, this is my first Diesel and I'm loving it!
