Angry Even ford doesnt know

So the other day I got in my 2000 7.3 truck and hit the key and when it fired it loped til it died. Turned the key off then back on and waited a few seconds before i cranked it over and she fired right up. If i get in and hit the key right away she lopes and dies but if i wait bout 5 seconds she takes right off. Hot or cold doesnt matter. When it lopes and i give it throttle it will slowly climb to the top, say in about 2 minutes, let off it lopes til it dies. Turn the key off then back on and at 5 mississippi im on my way. No lack in power or anything. Not throwing any codes while it lopes or runs normal. Any ideas???

Do you still have the 10k mod hooked up? If so...disconnect that and see if the problem persists.

the cold start sounds like a glow plug issue.
but the non idle makes me think its fuel delivery issue...fuel filters, fuel pump/pressure, hpop ?

Dirty IPR... Clean it, and the issue should go away.

Also, check your ICP sensor, if there is oil in the connector replace the ICP sensor.

Same thing applies to the IPR. If there is oil in the connector, replace it and the IPR. (Get them off Ebay unless you have a good friend at the parts counter or deep pockets).

my high mileage powerstoke with start lope and stall if I let them sit for a few weeks. It is because the HPOP reservoir drains back.

I just crank it hold it to the floor and keep the idle high for a a minuet and it's fine.

the HPOP reservoir can NEVER drain back !

if the HPOP is leaking at the STC connector youll suffer EXTENDED cranking
times to start <because it takes longer/cranking to build the minimum 500 psi>.

eventually a "leaking" HPOP will leave you STRANDED !

OK???

Then why is it when some of these high mileage 7.3 sit for a few weeks, you unscrew the oil pressure sensor off the top of the HPOH reservoir drop a screw driver down the in the HPOP reservoir and there is a drop of oil on the end of the screw drive? It doesn't leak out on the ground.

The HPOP reservoir can drain back, I have seen many trucks that wouldn't start unless you fill the HPOP reservoir with oil.

How long did the truck not run for?

Did you by any chance watch your oil pressure gauge?

If the lope stops about the same time your oil pressure gauge jumps to "normal", that is your HPOP reservoir filling up.
