97 f350 tranny temp issues

I have a 1997 f350 7.3L it has stage one injectors, airraid intake, mbrp downpipe, 4" dual straight- pipe and a ts 6 position chip. I put all the upgrades in about the same time (may 2010) everything has been running great. The past month i noticed my tranny temp has been 180- almost 200. Truck still runs great when at this temp. Wondering if its an issue, if so what can I do to fix the problem? I was told to get a bigger tranny cooler.

If you have had a guage on it for awhile and it used to run cooler then I might be concerned, but thats around the normal temps for the factory cooler setup.

If it is running hotter than normal, there are numerous possibilities but I would make sure the cooler lines are not damaged/restricted, and trans cooler is clean and airflow path un-obstructed.

If you want cooler temps you will need to upgrade the cooler.

My motto: Be nice, be polite, but have have a plan to kill everyone that you meet.

Would synthetic tranny oil along with a larger cooler be the best option? I'm running synthetic in my 5 speed (Mobil 1) and there's an obvious difference in the way it works over std oil but don't know about temp variances.

I'm pretty sure mine is the same as yours (just visiting). I am going to doth bigger tranny cooler and do the BD valve body tranny kit in a couple weeks. I've looked into it and the Bd valve body kit beefs up the tranny quite a bit and lower the temps quite a bit
