Vibration/Growl @ highway speeds worse underload

Been searching for the source of this noise, both Hubs replaced last year, tires rotated, new pads and rotors.
Sound or vibration is generally felt at highway speeds more prevalent under load, steering does not effect it,bumps no effect, consistent oscillation no matter in or out of gear and motor on or off. Looked for loose things and rubbing of things and found nothing.

Thinking front axle possibly?

I have not but when the tranny was rebuilt 3 weeks ago they indicated there were no problems.
Please expand on the proper way to check it and it seems the sound is more from the firewall bell housing area not behind the seat.

Start by checking it visually. Climb under there and see if anything looks worn and see if there is play where there shouldn't be.

nope the sound oscillates off and on sounds in the past i have heard similar sound from a bad rear wheel bearing on a front wheel drive car. You can feel it in the floor and not the steering.
I recall bad u joints would clunk the carrier bearing is cheap maybe i will just replace it and check fluid level in front diff which does nto appear to leak.
