how many miles is too many?

i dont really know a whole lot about the 7.3l trucks, but i have talked a person down to what seems to be a great deal on a truck. its a 99 lariat, crewcab, 4wd, 7.3 short bed and hes agreed to 12.5k, but the truck has 135k miles on it. i know thats a TON in the 6.0l world, but was under the impression the 7.3 has much more longevity than that. this truck is bone stock with the exception of 285s.

i guess my question is, at this mileage, what should i be concerned about? whats gonna be the next thing to be replaced, and what should i ask if he has had replaced recently?

thanks a lot guys,
mikey

my 95 gets used and abused daily.......and it has over 255,000 miles on it. seems like the higher the mileage gets, the better she runs........135,000 miles I personally would not hesitate on with a 7.3.......................

I'm looking for one with 100-125K miles on it right now.
My dad has an 01 XLT ex-cab 2wd...with less than 56K on it...I can get it from him for an excellent price...but I need a crew cab.

135,000 miles is no miles at all as fare as as I am concerned. My 95 has around 220,000 on it and it hits the rev limiter several times daily.

My grandfather has a 99 with over 300,000 on it and he pulls a trailer loaded with antiques across country all the time. He just recently has had some injector trouble and new turbo installed and intercooler in the past 6 months. Other than that he has done mothing but normal maintenance.

I would be all over the truck you mentioned as 135,000 is childs play for the 7.3 Stroker and that sounds pretty cheap to me.

Talked to a man the other day at the fuel pump who had 680,000 on his '99. He hot-shots for a living. The trucks on the 4th auto trans, 3rd rear end and 2nd engine. He said if it blew up today, it had paid for itself 100 times over.

well im lookin to get rid of this 1500hd for a diesel daily driver until the 07s start showing up on the lots. when the 07s show up, if all is well, ill sell this truck and the mustang, because im in love with the mercedes cls500. my uncle has one and im pretty sure i drooled in it during my first ride. around summer time, used ones should be avaliable closer to my price range...
