No Start Help
A friend of mine has a 97 7.3 he ran it outta diesel driving down the road and once filled it up it wont start. The truck cranks over and will run with shot of ether but once that wears off dies again. CPS has been replaced, hpop full of oil, fuel in fuel bowl, unplugged icp sensor, all wiring connections are good. I'm stumped at this point can anyone point me to some other tests or what the problem could be? if truck sets over night it will start on its own and run for a second or 2 then dies again. any help would be much appreciated.

Is it possible that when he ran it out of fuel he sucked some trash from the bottom of the tank...plugging the fuel filter. No enough fuel can get through for the truck to run...and letting the truck sit overnight lets the junk in the filter settle a bit. Open up the drain tube for the filter housing, take the old filter out...flush the housing with some clean diesel, then close the drain tube, install new fuel filter and see if that helps.
