Is this good to run?

My dad and I are looking for a new exhaust for the F-250 and I was wondering is it good to run just a 5" pipe right from the turbo to the back with no muffler? Will it smoke a lot and how loud on a scale of 1-10 ( 10 being the loudest )? We are still running a stock turbo but got a programmer and getting an intake and gauges soon.

Soon to come -

5" from the turbo back is going to require some modifications to the firewall. You can get a 4" DP and up to 5" after it goes down.

You aren't going to increase the smoke level with an exhaust. smoke is a result of over fueling.

As far as how loud is it going to be, you wont' be nearly as loud as a straight piped cummins 12V. any straight piped powerstroke 7.3 has a maximum noise level around that of a flowmastered chevy Z71 pickup. Though the turbo does smooth out the exhaust note.

5" downpipe is way too big for the stock turbo. Max size is 4".

So you can do a 4" down to a 5" stright pipe back? How about emmissions testing, will it pass w/o a muffler?

Yeah right buddy. I have a 4" straight exhaust on my truck and its louder than any z71 or any gasser ive heard. believe me, it will be loud.

my straight pipe 7.3 isn't terribly loud... i have been meaning to get a sound clip and post it

i had a F150 with a 5.4 and some 40 series flowmaster (two chamber) mufflers on it and i think the half ton was louder than my stroke... and the 460 in my bronco with headers and 3" one chambers would totally drownd out my stroke
