radius arm bushing

Anyone know the procedure on how to replace these on an 03 f250 2wd. Wich brand to buy. Thanks.

The instructions provided in the kit are pretty good no matter the brand. Go with the polyurethane replacements and change the axle pivot bushings also. Basically just take the nut, washers, and bushings off after pulling the axle forward with a large pry bar with a helper unless you take the shock absorber and spring mount loose. There will be some resistance to holding the axle forward but it you have a port o power handy, it's easy to push the axle beam forward so you can change the forward most bushings on the radius arms. I mention the axle pivot bushings also: keep in mind as the radius arm bushings wear, they allow the axle shaft to move fore and aft. The movement has to pivot on the other end of the shaft and this is what wears out the other bushings mentioned. Best to remove the axles from the truck, (not hard to do) and replace them unless you have a "C" clamp and socket type pusher available. I like to use a shop press myself so the axles come out to do the job. Get a good look at your ball joints also for slop/wear while working under there.

The question I seek an answer for is simply; why, or why not?

Adding to what Backslap posted, if you have to replace bushings in one location, unless time or money are a major factor, the best thing to do is replace all of the bushings in the front end and any known wear items that could be related to the bad bushing. The bushings you mention may be the worst, but the rest of your suspension has the same age and miles on it too. Also, replacing everything at once, bushings, ball joints, tie rods, etc., you can have the truck properly aligned and it will maintain that alignment longer, drive great and give good tire wear. When you're done you have the piece of mind that your truck is back to like-new, and you can possibly shoot for doubling the number on your odometer in that area of the truck.
