Smaller injectors but they are still Splits. they are ABs and late 99s are ADs. Smaller Intake Runners, Smaller Y pipe, Smaller Turbo, Smaller HPOP and you cant realy say that about the badges cause some were on the the doors and some were on the fenders but still could be early 99s.

the vast majority of early 99's have the front quarter badge. However...sometime in November of 98...near as I can tell...they ran out of them and began using door badges. The 99.5 models didn't go out the door until mid-december.

So there are a few early 99's running around with door badges. The easiest way to tell is to look at the build sticker on the drivers door. Anything before 12/98 is considered early 99.

yeah my truck has the badges on the doors and it was built in october 98. considering all those differences you really cant tell much of any difference in driving this truck and a late 99.

From what I've seen the HPOPs are the same. They didn't change until later. '01 I think. The injectors are different. Early '99 AB flow 130-135cc and late '99 ADs flow 135-140cc. So there's not much difference. The turbos are basicly the same just the late one as a different compressor housing and a different comperssor wheel. The rest of the turbo is pretty much the same though. I don't think there's much difference in flow between the two. They did have 2" intake manifolds vs the 3" in late '99 but being fed with one 3" pipe I highly doubt there is much if any difference in performance.

Early 99 HPOP is like the 96 and 97 HPOP. Mid year 99 they changed HPOP's and gave us a bit more oil. Other thing is the air cleaner was updated for the late 99 to a front flow instead of the inner fender intake.

There are only two HPOPs that were out. A 15° and a 17°. The 17° pumps have a hump on the back plate and those didn't start surfaceing until around '01. I have a pump off a '00 and it is flat like the early and late '99 and like the '94-'97.
