EGT Question?

I seem to be hitting 1250 easy at WOT. Is that normal in the 100 horse setting? Also at cruising speed (70-75 mph) EGT was right at 600 with stock turbo, but with new BallBuster (installed today!) I seem to be about 100 degrees higher. Just to clarify I always run in the 100 horse setting. Stock or BallBuster. Sorry if it's a stupid question but I was just wondering. Thanks.

I would say a boost leak somewhere but the cruse thing stumps me. I'm betting on a boost leak! Check the up pipes, I know I have a small leak there! I just don't feel like fixing it right now...

From the manifolds to the turbo collector, there are two pipes on each side... very temperamental leakers!

What you need to do is test for boost leaks, I built a little rig this weekend for just that reason.

I think that link will work

1250 @ WOT on the hwy in 100 hp setting is not bad. As long as you dont hit the 1300+ for an extended period of time you will be fine.

600 on the hwy cruising 70 is normal. Up pipes are a PITA to mess with. It's easier to drop the tranny out of the truck and sit under it in the tranny compartment than to try to replace them from up top.

The up pipes are about the only job I will let Ford fix!!! I almost feel for the tech that gets stuck with it!!!

Sounds like I'm going to be leaving the up pipes alone for a while! If that's what it is. A buddy of mine said he had to replace the gaskets on a '02 SD, but he had the transmission out and he couldn't have done it otherwise. Thanks again for replying so quick! You guys are great!!
