Oil Question

I have a 2002 F350 4x4 SC with the 7.3 46600 on the odometer. So far I have used the MC 15w40 and the MC oil filter with no complaints regarding the products. I plan on sticking with the MC oil filter but may go with Delo or Delvac as the MC 15w40 oil is getting harder to find in the auto parts stores and when you do find it, it is in the quart bottles. I'm torn between these two choices of oil, I know their both good oils. Without starting a big debate, just wondering what other Power Stroke owners think?

Thanks:shrug:

I think the DELO400 is probably the best dino based HDEO on the market and will perform on par with the Motorcraft stuff.

Hammer,

Thanks for the feedback. I must admit if I stop using the MC(really don't want to) I would most likely go with the Delo. I take you have good luck with it as well.

Thanks again

I run Delo too always had good luck. Used to buy it in bulk when we had otr trucks. Advance auto told me they are not gonna carry the Delo anymore though Might have to switch to Rottalla

I switched from Rotella because I found that it breaks down after 5k miles and it does foam. I switched to Mobil Delvac and that is all I have run in my 01 and Im about to turn 100k miles and have had no probs at all oil samples are great truck runs great :blah:
When I switched from Rotella to Delvac in my Peterbilt I noticed that the oil pressure was 3-5lbs higher after warm up. So basically Im sticking with Delvac.
As for Chevron Delo... Ive never used it cause it smells funny
FWIW: The diesel tech at my dealer does not like Rotella at all and says use the MC but hasnt been able to ay anything bad about my using the Delvac.
Hope this helps.. John

FYI: Oriellys carries the 15-40 Mo Co oil in the 5qt jugs. If they dont have it they will get it in for you. The one by me stocks it (alot of it)

John,

Thanks, interesting post. I have also thought about the Delvac as a possibility. There are no Orielly's in my area. I'm not sure if Autozone or Parts America in my area could get the 5 qt jugs of MC 15w40. Autozone only carries the 1 quart bottles of MC 15w40. The Ford parts place in my area only stock the quart bottles of MC 15w40 at 3.62 per quart last check 5 months ago. They don't carry the 5 quart jugs don't know why? I figure they would rather carry the 5 quart jugs for their oil change customers to make it easier.

Thanks
