Brake issue

My Abs light popped on a few days ago. LAst nite the pedal wouldn't go down but about an inch.but still stopped the truck. This morning the light is gone but it only feels like the front brakes are working. Any ideas? Tate

More than likely your vacuum pump is shot. check to see if the climate control switches work they are also operated by vacuum.

pumps are around $100 IIRC, you need a powersteering pully puller to swap the pully over to the new pump.

from your description it sounds like your brakes are operating just as well as they would if the truck was not running hence the vacuum pump diagnosis.

As I noted on the other board it takes very little vacuum to operate dampner panels but far more for vac assist brakes.

Unplug the vac line going to the master cylinder and start the truck you should feel a very strong sucking force when you put your finger over the pump similar to what you feel when you put your hand over the end of a shop vac tube.

Or you could go buy a vac guage.
