Unhappy Just my luck.....

Well got my injectors out today and sending them off tommorow. Thats good news right? But, I have a problem. When I took my intake off my turbo I noticed that the turbo side of the boot where the clamp holds it to the turbo was ripped underneath the clamp. No big deal, I'll just buy a new one. But, when I removed the intake and boot I noticed that the edges of the fins on the turbo are wore terribly, from dirt entering the turbo I assume. I just convinced myself that I wouldnt get a turbo till spring to avoid spending so much money now on injectors and intercooler tubes and such. Now I find out that I need a turbo. I could get a stocker for cheap money but, in order to get the hp. I want out of this truck in the spring I'm gonna need a bigger turbo. The truck has 165K on it, is there gonna be some wear to the fins? I have always messed with newer trucks with lower mileage and never seen this. My question is, do I put a new stocker on that might last a while or spend the money and get a bigger one? The turbo spools like any other OBS that I have rode in, and has really no performance problems. Just wondering what someone else would do I guess....

What scare's me is, and I am sorry to say this... If there is wear on the fins there is wear in the cylinders too... Might do a quick compression check before you send out the injectors... Sorry... That suck's

That is exactly what I'm sayin....im not worried about the turbo all that much, its the internals....: Im gonna run over to the garage in just a minute and I'll post a pic of it. What do I have to have to do a compression test on one of these motors?

Pull a glow plug and take it down to Auto Zone or NAPA and see what they can fine... going to need a kit anyway, but the kits dont always come with the right stuff

those little pieces off of those fins went in to ur motor and maybe jammed between the piston and the cylinder wall maybe u got lucky and they went right on threw and out to the exhaust side of the turbo, hate to say that but its the truth, once u check all of the cylinders and u find a low one then squirt some motor oil in the cylinder that was low and check it again and see if it comes up if it does then its time for some rings

i dont think them pieces came off... well they did but not as chunks i sa it took many miles to slowly wear them like that and maybe if he is lucky it did not hurt his motor too much
