Can't get her started

I've got a 2001 F250 Diesel. I haven't driven it for about 3-4 days because I've been sick and now it wont start. I tried jumping it off both batteries but no luck. I can hear the starter going but it just wont turnover to start. Any ideas?

Is it cranking slower than normal? They have to be spinning pretty good to fire off.

Some easy things are:
Check the oil level,
Check oil level in HPOP reservoir,
Open yellow lever on fuel bowl and see if fuel drains or take fuel filter top off and verify fuel bowl is full.

Any smoke while cranking?

Does the tach move while cranking?

Do you get the SES (service engine soon) light?

Just some things to check to help you get started.

Another quick note: DO NOT use ether (starting fluid) unless you unhook all of the glow plugs, not good for them.

try tapping(just tapping) on the starter with a hammer and see if that makes a diff, if it does then you will need new starter also load check ur batteries, they may be that bad that jumping it wont do it, by the way where are u located?

good luck and welcome to the garage!!!!

Sounds like it's just not engageing. Tapping on it might get it to go, but it may need replaced unless you want to carry a hammer around.

that was what i was thinking just thinking that if it did ingage and start cranking then that would be sure way to tell it was the starter and not electrical
i dont think i want to carry a hammer around all the time atleast not for that

You'd look like a winner for sure if you had to crawl under your truck and beat on it to get it to start every time.
