help with 99 SD..... FAST?

hi guys,

my friend has a late 99, DRW, AT, with 140k....started running rough and stalling on him. once it warmed up it was ok, its started and got worse in about a week's time...

now it will barely start and idle horrible for 30-45 second then stalls(kinda sounds like its running out of fuel) its to the point that the truck wont move

i just put a cam sensor for him, i knew those were a commong thing that could cause his symptoms....it didnt help

im stumped(not that i know a whole lot about diesels)

oh he did have a code for ICP performance...could a bad ICP cause the conditions above?

any help you all could give would be awsome....hes kinda in a bind so the sooner the better....

thanks
~Tim

Sounds like a fuel pump to me... Check the fuel pressure, get a 0-100 gauge and install it on the drain line for the fuel bowl, clamp the drain line to the filter housing!!! It should be min of 45, any lower then 30 and its not going to run right. I would bet the ICP is a old code but it could have a cloged screen...

My 00 had the same code and it didn't have enough power to move itself.
Turned out to be injector harness coming unplugged under the valve covers.
Bought the locks from ford it took care of the problem.

niether fuel issues nor injector issues will set an ICP system code

Icp codes are set by oil quality or supply issues ,bad icp sensors (they are known to split leak oil and read incorrectly and can cause no starts),bad iprs or ipr wiring and bad pumps.

if you can post the actual code description it gives us more to go on

thanks guys

i found the problem....ended up being so simple that we overlooked it in the begining.....

the galley plug on the rear of the right head had blown the oring, hence leaking oil....leaked about half of it out.....no oil=no start...

changed the oil(for now just until he gets the new pulg and oring) and she fired right up...ran rough for a minute then smoothed out
