questions on stock fuel pump

how much power can the stock mechanical pump on the OBS trucks handle before needing a fuel system?

i ask because it seems as though mine is failing...See related thread

since i'll be needing to replace it...it may just be time to upgrade

my future plans include stg2 singles in the spring but after that not to much....will a stock pump be ok with those? if it will i'll just put another one in and call it good

thanks guys :thanks:

When I was shoping for injectors Tony Wildman told me that stage 1's or 2's will be ok with the stock OBS fuel system. Beyond that you are pushing it.

I suppose it is like anything though you are pushing it to the max. Kinda like my stage 1's will work with the stock HPOP. Tell that to my SES light while hotrodding in EXTREME!!!

EDIT:

Oh yeah, I have the stock one from my truck that was working perfectly. You can have it if you would like. It has 110,000 miles on it but no gaurante that the pressure will be great. It was runing flawlesly with a Superchips tuner on the truck.

thanks for the info....i wonder how "ok" stg2's would be

i was actually looking at the thread about your fuel system today....

seems like it would work great....had a couple questions about it....

-how did you run the return in order to use both tanks?

-approx how much $ did it run(if you dont mind me asking) if its reasonable for me right now i might set mine up similarly....

Typically stage 1 and stage 2 injectors only differ in nozzel sizes. My injectors are from Casserly and are supposed to flow 180cc I think and have the stock nozzels on them.

I just connected the return line from the regulator to the steel line in the engine bay that goes to the selector valve. I also used the fuel feed from the selector valve to go straight into my first filter.

As for the cost I am ball parking it at about $600.
