Question Water pump question

I have seen some very slight amounts of coolant coming from the weep hole of my water pump. It would be better to replace it now while I don't depend on the truck so much. Any way I found a pretty good deal on a pump. It is a new Ford part # F81Z-8501-FA or Motorcraft PW-455. The casting has number 1831005C22 on it.

The seller says it fits 1998.5 to 2003 7.3's Dont ask me why they say 98.5 but I saw the application sheet myself

Will it fit my 96? I thought the pumps were the same from 96 to 03.

:thanks: in advance

Pumps are the same except for the thermostat housing and the heater outlet on top. Pre 99 is a short thermostat, 99 up being a longer thermostat assembly. Iíve interchanged them both ways.

On the 96 if you donít want to interchange a couple of parts itís easier to use the pre 99 unit.. But, once that weep hole starts dripping itís time to replace that pump. My wifeís 99 exploded the WP bearing about a week ago and I had to call the hook to get me home..
