varying idle

Hey guys
Just a quik question. have a probelm similair to that of Dodge22's about the excursion, butmine seems to happen at an idle. I was on a long trip the other day pulling a trailer and the truck surged and set a SES light it cleared up within 30 seconds i chalked it up to trash in the fuel. Then when i got close to home stopped at a redlight and idle was up and down to the point i held my foot on the throttle to keep it running, this time no SES light, And now does like it supposed to. Could it be a CPS symptom or something else? thanks

If it set the SES light, you got a code!
Yank the code and see where that points you.
