Cold weather/high idle

I was wondering if short trips in this cold weather that we are having (10*) is going to hurt my engine? I try to let it warm up until the coolant gauge moves but sometimes I can not wait that long. Will it hurt if the truck if it is not completly warm before I shut it down, my trip to work is only about 5 to 10 minutes depending on road conditions?

The other thing is can I make the truck idle high all the time when idling in cold weather? The reason I ask is, I recently read about wetstacking.

I would also like to change my coolant, does anyone have any sugestions?

Lots of people use evans coolant.
For the high idle you can't beat the ford Aux Idle Controller
As for the hurting the engine, I say no so long as you don't flog it while you're still cold. I do the same thing alot runnig back and forth between the barns and my house

Do you have to get the Aux idle controller from a Ford dealer, or can you buy it from our vendors on TDG?

Look around Ebay... they come up every now and then... You can add a chip to your truck with a high idle setting too. The Ford Axl Idle will set you back about $300 so

i wish i had a chip coming soon but i dont have the money, i kinda want to do turbo, injectors and chip all at once so i am not burning a chip than modding only to send the chip back out

The womans truck idles high when its cold all by its self and so does the Cummins.

Mine does idle high by its self, but only part of the time.
