Question quick EBPV question...

im going to unhook the ebpv tomorow...its messed up

question is can i just unplug the electrical connector or do i need to unhook the rod under it also? :

I would leave the electric plug on and just disconect the linkage and wire the butterfly open as a quick fix.. the best way is to remove the butterfly assembly and gut the plate out and reinstall it

I did the exact opposite. Unplug the white connector at the base of the turbo pedistal. The rod will no longer activate and the EBPV will remain open. That way you don't have to worry about your rigging job holding that butterfly valve open. The only thing that will happen is that your PCM will store a soft code for the EBPV. However the check engine light will not come on, so you won't even notice until you hook your truck up to a scanner. Definately much easier to simply unplug the electrical connection.

If you want to then you can either gut the EBPV, or replace it with a non-EBPV housing and pedistal. I've currently got those on order and should be here any day now.

pocket the only problem there is i have seen the regulaters ( the plug you disconected on the base) go bad and even with no signal to them allow oil pressure thru to apply the vavle closed .. thus the reason i recomend gutting or wiring it open .. and technically no need to replace the base just gut the end valve or replace with a non ebp style

I would just gut it. Done it to my 96. One of the best things I ever did. After its gutted, you leave the sensor plugged in and forget about it.

1999.5 PSD, 4x4, Auto trans, 6.0 Trans cooler, ZooDad Mod, ISSPRO Trans - boost - EGT gauges, Wicked Wheel, 5inch Stainless tip, 315 75 17 BFG AT's, ProComp 9000's at the corners, Fumatomo Valve, Pooned tank, DP Tuner F5 w/ 80 tow, 80 econo, 120 race and permagrin!
