I like the AFE stage 2. Just my opinion. Maybe someone else will chime in with something better. Good Luck!

I guess you would have to better define what you mean when asking what the BEST is.

I think most people like the AFE stage 2 for the most flow and hp potential.

I personally run a huge paper element filter (Commonly reffered to as a Tymar intake). A paper air filter will filter dirt out better than the gause type filters that are used in the aftermarket. It may be down of flow just slightly but this would only be when you have your accelerator to the floor.

It really depends on what you use your truck for.

Here's a pic of the paper filter. It is a 6637 Napa

Would the Tymar be better for dusty enviroments? What are the pro's and con's of both types?

The AFE stage 2 proguard... There is nothing that filters better and flows more... But truth be told, I run the AFE stage 2 without the proguard 7 filter... not one bit of dirt in my motor...

Is the prefilter good to use also? So I should go with the AFE stage 2 W/ progaurd. I guess I should go all out and use the pre-filter also ? Does anyone know who has a good price on this intake?

Elite Diesel... Talk to Robert...

I would go with the standard media and a prefilter... but I go against the grain...

Everybody has their preferences.
I have been around farm equipment for years and I haven't seen 1 of them with a gause filter on it. They are subject to about the dirtiest environment possible and many tractors will run for thousands and thousands of hours on paper element filters, you just need to change them when they get dirty.

Now that doesn't mean that I don't think guase filters have their place, because they do. If I had a drag car and was worried about performance and with the fairly clean environment I would be all for one.

I have personaly ran K&N's on my dirt track racecar and I will not run them anymore. They do filter pleanty good for our purposes on the race car but when they would get dirty they will pull some dirt through. I cleaned and re-oiled it after every 3 nights of racing and it was just fine.
Now I use Wix Racing filters on it.
