I'm new to the forum, but if you just want to scan for codes, Harbor Freight ( and Wal-Mart ( both sell very inexpensive (< $100) code readers. Wal-mart has an extremely liberal return policy, : which I exercised when a heavy foot :93C_peelo: resulted in a P0171 code one Sunday, 2 hours before the new buyer was coming to pick up my 98 4.6 liter F-150...

...yeah, I disclosed it - but wouldn't you rather buy a truck with no current codes?
