Check Engine Light

This all started the other morning when I started my truck and for whatever reason the check engine light came on. It was about 8 or so degrees outside. The truck runs fine no problems. So I went to "chevy zone" (aka auto zone) due to the fact that they are the only ones who are still doing the comp scans. Well turns out the scanner wouldn't come on. The guy said the comp is probably going bad or something. Im no idiot. If the comp was bad the truck wouldn't run. If anybody had a clue what is going on please help. Thanks 00 CC SB 7.3 AFE Stg 2 Ts chip MBRP 5" autometer guages

Check the fuse under the dash for the OBDII. The scanner should get power from the OBDII port if it isn't something is wrong. Will need to know what the code is before we can really help you. You could disconnect the batteries for a little while to clear the codes and see if it comes back.

I would just spend the money and go to a shop to pull it up. Most like likely the scanner at Auto Zone won't find what you need. Did the light go away once the motor warmed up?

The light is still on. I will check the fuse under the dash. Hopefully that is part of the problem. I guess I could disconnect the batteries but I would like to find out what code it is throwing. I'll get back to ya on the fuse

The fuse was blown. Went back to chevy zone and now I have to retract a previous statement, I am an idiot. The damn cap on the fuel tank apparantly wast tight enough. Funny thing is though, it had been that way for about two weeks. I live 10 min from work so i dont use alot of fuel. It also still had a 1/4 tank of fuel left. Go ahead and laugh it uplaugh Thank God it wasn't something worse. Thanks for everone's help
