Turbo surge at what PSI

In an attempt to see if my MAP sensor is somehow screwy, at what boost level will surge usually happen?

The condition is running I-40W up to Asheville about a 4 mile 7% grade at 70-75 mph, EGT around 1100 when I'm accelerating out of corners. For me it starts around 11-12 psi and stops around 13-15 psi. I've read it usually happens around 18 psi, so I'm hoping that my sensor is just off by about 6 or 8 psi.

2K3 EXCURSION 7.3L 4x4 EDDIE BAUER 107K miles as of 06-13-07
AFE Stage II / 4" MBRP exhaust / DP-Tuner F5 (Stock, 60hp Tow, 80hp Econo, 120hp race & High Idle) / Quadzilla Commander/ATS Housing
Running homebrewed BioDiesel and custom SVO kit for 70k miles.
Misc. Mods: ZooDad/By-Pass Oil Filter/203* T-Stat/Coolant Filter/HPX/CCV Reroute/Tranny Filter/Foil Delete/Stereo Stuff/ITP Reg Return/Non-EBPV Pedistal and Exhaust Housing/Adjustable Waste Gate Controller/

I drive that thing atleast once a week sometimes twice, so I know excatly when and how my surge will start and stop. I can usually do 65-70 up it with no surge, but anything above 70 and I hear the dread studder. No biggy though, I've got an ATS housing, just haven't installed it yet.

And thanks for the info on your surge.

well, I may get surge once I put these stage 1 single shots in. Stock I could really only maintain about 55 up Black Mountain. Not that I really should go up it any faster pulling a 3h trailer.

I actually thought about that today, I can't imagine driving a fully loaded Semi up that thing, or down for that matter. Serious pucker factor.
