turbo prob?

my turbo used to whistle good at 3000 rpm, now it all depends on the day, but lately I havent heard it at all. tomorrow i'm gonna check and see if the turbo is sloppy. the intake is fine (no leaks). if it is sloppy, just buy a new wheel? Should I modify the turbo also. probably get a chip and idm mod. should the turbo get stuff done to it? I love the whistle!!

A small amount of side to side and up and down play is normal The in and out play is not. A wheel maynot be the answer. Post up what you find.

i agree, the wheel might not be the problem. the center section along with the bearings might be bad. when my turbo broke on my 94 i bought an aftermarket one that was better for a little extra money. good luck.

If it has a lot of shaft play, a wheel will do nothing to fix it.

You would need a rebuild kit, you can get one off eGay for less than 100

Are you getting any abnormal smoke?

Could have blown a seal.

Also, do you have a CCV mod? Open to the atmoshere or in a canister?

Perhaps you have a leaky boot. I'd do the ccv mod and clean the boots and tubes. Inspect the boots while you clean them.
