Straight Front Axle

Im looking for a straight axle for my 97. Do i have to find one off a 94-97 F-350 or is there other years that will fit? Thanks

it would be much easy to find a 94 to a 97 because you need a few other parts off of it to but other years will work itl jus be a little harder

The best axle to get is a d-60 with the kingpins, the ball jointed ones were not near as strong. They were found in trucks prior to 92 i believe. The swap is a bolt in all you need is new u-bolts and the tie rods. You wont regret getting rid of that twin-i-beam mess. You can't get an axle from the 70's models because the frame was a few inches narrower on them and the leaf spring perches will not line up and it will cause you all kinds of head aches.
