Purchasing a used 7.3

My friend is selling his early 1999 7.3, and I am considering buying it. It has 150,000 miles, the interior is O.K. the exterior could used some dents pulled. Today I started it up for the first time in over a week and the truck started on the first time with hardly any smoke. The only problem with the truck is the clutch will not disengage but his dad is a mechanic and said he could fix the clutch. I was wondering should I buy it since he offered it to me for $4000. It is an XL basic truck manual 6 speed 4x4.
