oil pressure?

what should a stock 97 oil pressure be at with the truck warm at idle and under load just wondering ?:shrug: :Thumbup: :thanks:

It would be nice to see around 20-25psi idle and around 40-55psi with a load at speed. It could be less, to a degree, and still not hurt anything though.

Glad I could help.

You may see some funny gauge readings if you take you pressure from the HPOP reservoir or from the port on the oil filter/cooler housing. Use a port in the block is best for steady accurate readings.

It doesn't hurt to run it off the oil cooler/filter port, but depending on what the pressure regulator and filter bypass valves are doing you may see the gauge doing something odd. If the sender/tap is in the block you are seeing exactly what the engine is seeing. If your gauge doesn't show anything odd you don't have to worry about it if you don't want to.
