Oil Help

I had some oil picked up for me at the store and they came back with 5w40 synthetic diesel oil. I always run 15w40. can I run the 5w40 or will there be problems with this.

A lot of people run the 5-40 synthetic oil. It will just cranck quicker on cold start up. Not much of an issue (at least here) right now, but winter is coming. Most people that have ran it preffer the 5-40 synthetic over 15-40 conventional oil.

I am running the Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-40 and I have had no problems.

I have run 5w30 in the winter since it was new and have had no prroblems at all. It will be fine you may actually find you prefer it. Gene :mafia

Sonnax kit, Dieselsites' A/C heater core bypass valve, Autometer Boost, Pyro, and Trans temp guages in A pillar, Regulator in MAP line set at 20psi, boost tube, wastgate adjusted real tight, Aih delete, and Zoodad'ed. Amsoil fluids, Monroe Reflex shocks, and Ironman APR 265/75/16R tires.

5w40 diesel oil uses better base stocks for blending the oil which lead to better cold-flow properties. The base oil also has better high temperature properties and usually stands up to shearing better, which is important in a HEUI fuel system.

Yes, you can use the 5w40 with no issues as it's better oil than 15w40 in most cases.
