My understanding is that all you need to do is keep the fittings out of your old pump so your hoses will work with the new pump. Other than that it should be a straight forward swap. I haven't changed one out yet myself but I have both body style trucks and I can't see where it should be a problem.

3in Downpipe, Stage 1 sticks, solid flywheel conversion, 6 position chip. Work truck.

I got one from an 02 and put it on my 97 and the only thing I had to do was swap the fittings from my old one to the new one.

I don't even know where the HPOP is! is it the boxish thing on the very front of the motor?

On an OBS it is right in front of the fuel filter housing. It is the aluminum pump in the valley that has one hose running to each head.
