Aermore "Big Four" Exhaust Whistle

I got a Aermore "Big Four" Exhaust Whistle from my grandpa two days ago. It took 3 years of begging for it to get it seeing how he has 36 grandkids and two and a half hours to find and I had to promise I would hook it up by the end of next the month. I cant get it to work right I have a early 99 Ford 7.3 supercab short bed my exhaust comes out in front of my rear tire no muffler and I have gutted my cat. the whistle runs 1in pipe with a 1in 1/4turn ball valve and 1 1/4in pipe going in to my exhaust.

so I need to tune it because only the two high ones work good and/or need to get more flow/presser to it and Get a way to control it.

Not sure how to do this any help/ideas/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

so what do you need help with then? your guess is probably the right answer. just shove a potato in your exhaust pipe next time you have the whistle opened up and see if that helps:

I had to google it to figure it out too. it looks to me like its a train whistle that uses the exaust to run, most of the ones I saw were antiques.

I need to come up with a way to operate it from the cab of my truck.
It was bought new in 1916 by a family member.
I'm thinking a Mr. Gasket Exhaust Cutout might work but I need to find a way to get more flow to it they are made to have all the exhaust go through it but my truck pushes to much exhaust as most v8s would.

I was hoping I could find somone who has worked with one before my grandpa had it on his old truck but the guy who did it has pastaway

I really want help/ideas or thoughts about how to get it to work right.

P.S I got it tuned so all the notes are working good and some better.
and if I block 50% to 70% of my pipe at a idle i can make it sound just like a train. but thats at an idle

try that.

should do the trick. seems like you're still going to need some kind of way to block the exhaust flow out of the regular pipe to get the flow you need.

If you got the dual set up you could hook one up backward so that it closees off the exauset while the other opens up the whistle shold be easy to do with a single switch and 2 relays one wired to normally closed the other wirered for normally open.

yeah, but then you'd be running the whole exhaust through that whistle. if you accidentally bumped that switch at higher rpms, it'd become an exhaust brake, or shatter

Good point. what if he was to drill a 1 or 2in. hole in the middle of the cutout that will be blocking off the exaust so it alows some air to go through it

I'm thinking if I move the whistle towards cab and puting one of the valve after the whistle and closing it some or all the way when I want to use the whistle.

The whistle has its own valve to work it.

So now the question is how big of a hole would i want so not to kill my truck or If this is just a stupid idea.

Thank all of you for your help
