Idle Jumping up and down

At start mostly when it's warm I shut off and come back and start it the idle jumps up and down! So I was told that the CPS was going and to replace it! I did and right after I installed it did the same thing so I have a spare for when it does. So with the Idle jumps up and down at start what could be the prob?

Most times the condition of the idle jumping up then down is called "the romps", just FYI.

When I asked about the romps on my PSD I was told that the IPR might be to blame, old or poor oil, oil too thick (not an issue this time of year), etc. I never really found anyting I could put my finger on but they went away. Sorry, not much help!

Sounds like the IPR o-rings are going bad. On a side not I like my rompy idle in the extreme program. I had a mullet wearing fellow ask me what cam I had in my motor.

When it does it, I can hit the pedal and it will settle down and if I don't it romps about three or four times and then settles down..

Some just seem to do that. High ICP seems to cause it sometimes but I'm not sure that's your problem. If you get a chip with a different PCM code it may or may not go away. My friend's truck does it really bad when he first fires it up. He's running a TEE5 chip. Not sure how much it's related though.
