Question from a newb!

I have an 01 that was stock when i got it 6 months ago. I have now installed a 4" turbo back exhaust, an AFE stage 2, and a DP tuner (stock,60 tow,80 econo,120 race,140 race). I love everyhting so far! It turned that trucks world upside down! I normally run it in 80 econo. I am having an "issue". When I accelerate quickly it does almost a choking feeling. Its almost like it is cutting out. Then it clears up and goes on its way. What is going on? Do i need to add something? Thanks!

Does the check engine light come on when that happens?

Do you have any gauges installed? If so, what are the readings?

The check engine light does not come on and yes i do have guages. My tranny guages always stays at or around 150 and my pyro guage reads fine. I havnt watched my boost that closely to say what is doing. Since im a newb with diesels this is the only way i can describe it; I know on my gasoline vehicles that i build when they do what my diesel is doing it means it is not getting enough gas or its getting to much gas. I know diesels work differently then gasoline thats why im stumped. It only did this after i put the DP tuner in. Any suggestions???

The two easiest things I can think of is, check your fuel filter and run some Diesel Kleen or other fuel cleaner/additive to clean possible dirty injectors.
Someone with more experience will probably post shortly.
Good luck!

Just talked with Jody @ DP tuners and he told that it has something to do with the turbo. He told me to get a ported compressor housing because what i am feeling is surging. Thank you [email protected] DP tuners!!

Its not so much a hissing sound. It surges 3 or 4 times then it clears up and goes! I would love to replace my turbo with a better unit but right now the time isnt right! I am thinkin about going with the ported turbo housing. I am going to wait and see what is new when i attend SEMA the week after next!!

You can try the Wicked Wheel, might do it, the ATS housing will for sure, or a 1.00 exhaust housing too.

Be sure to check out the Isspro Booth and look at the new Performax gauges!
