Thinkin' Powerstroke!

Hey Yall,
First of all, im in iraq :mafia and ive got an 83 F250, pretty much stock, 6.9IDI. When i get back to the greatest place on earth im gonna have a few bucks in the bank. I really really want a powerstroke! : I want to be able to drive from Washington to Georgia and not have to worry about jack chit. What year do you recommend? I mean power wise, reliability wise, price wise and the widest amounts of upgrades available. Id like to hear some of yalls opinions.
I appreciate it!
Oh yea, and i dont want to spend over 20 grand on a 03 powerstroke and 7.3 is the way to go! 7.3s are my favorite.

Hey buddy thank you for fighting for us!! YOU ROCK!!!! Now the 7.3 is sweet. I say any of them from 2000-2003 good to go. I think the 01 had the weakest trans.

Depends what year you want, but they're all solid. I took my 2000 Powerstroke on a 4000 mile round trip this summer and it had 105,700 miles on it when I started the trip.

Only thing that sucks really about the later 00's-03's is they have PMR rods. So if your looking at making any serious power, I would stay away from them, unless a full on build suits your fancy...

Otherwise thanks a Million for goin over there and fightin for us!!

Well, Of course the manual transmission is going to be the most reliable. If you rack up the power mods you'll need a stronger clutch. And a truck with a manual will be cheaper to buy. But I like to be able to just push the pedal and go
Thanks alot for your service to our country Come home safe

1st...Thanks for protecting the future of our children God Bless you and all your team.Let'em know we appreciate your sacrifices.

2nd Let us know when you get back and start looking we might be able to find a good one.As far as mods pretty much the same 95-03,00-03 have the better hpop.Reliability wise just check unit out thourghly before purchase,if it's not in your area post it maybe someone could check it out in the area.

if you are lookin for bigger power the 00-03's had weaker rods, but other than that the engines were reliable and really consistent through their years one of my friends has a 7.3 king ranch and it's rediculous, other than the rods all of the later years had better hpop's

I've never seen one, but I've heard about em. They seem to be ultra rare if they do exist... Cajun, get some pics of you buddy's truck.
