Tranny question??

K so our 99 F-250 was totalled last week by one of the workers the truck only had 130,000 on it so the engine and tranny are still in good shape. So my question is a auto tranny from a 99 the same as a auto tranny from a 97? The 97 stroker is have serious tranny issues so can the 99 be used on the 97??

The 99 is the 4R100 and the 97 is an E40D. The transmissions themselves are pretty much the same but I dont believe they will interchange.

I am not real sure on the interchangeable part but hopefully somebody "in the know" will be here soon!

You can put the '99 in the '97. There are some pretty minor changes that have to be done to make it work right. If I had the details I'd tell you. I think Racer_X knows what needs to be changed.

They are both diesels, right? If not, then it won't work.
