Lift Kits for '97 F350???

I am looking at 4" lift kits for my single cab 1997 F350. I like the look of the Skyjacker Kit. Tuff Country also makes a kit but I've heard bad things about them and you get what you pay for. I was wondering if any of you guys have used Skyjacker's 4" kit. Please tell me your experiences or suggestions. It looks like their kit runs about 700 bucks. Also what is the difference between kits for a rear towing package and those that don't? If you have any pics of a lifted '97 please post them! Thanks and Happy New Year. -Joe

The best mod I ever did was install a reverse shackle kit. It will allow you to run 35's and will improve the ride 1000 times over. Mine is from Off Road Unlimited, but there are other kits made. below is my truck with the ORU kit with 305's. I could go to 35's but dont want to. The rear is stock height.

i have a skyjacker 6 inch kit on mine, and its great, the ride is better than stock

i say go with skyjacker, ive ridden in trucks with Tuff country and they ride horrible

but wich ever company you go with make sure you spend the extra for the rear springs instead of blocks

Everyone seems to be favoring rear springs instead of blocks. How much worse of a ride would I have with rear blocks? It is just that the Skyjacker Kit with the rear blocks fits my budget of around 700-800 bucks.

the ride will be the same as stock in the rear since you retain your stock springs and just stack a lift block on top of the stock block....(legos)

the reason people like to stay away from blocks it becuase they give you axle wrap wich will wear out everything faster, and will stretch the ubolts and start moving around, ive also seen the movement cause the spring perch to tear off the axle tube

I just checked out Sky Manufacturing's Reverse Shackle Lift for the F350. It looks like a nice kit. 5" with shocks and pitman arm runs $675. I think I may go with that kit. Anyone know if the kit comes with rear shackles?

I have done some looking into Sky's kit also. It looks like a great kit, but it is only for the front. New springs for the rear would be best and also think about a set of ladder bars to control the axle wrap. I know it is hard, buy it in stages. Get the shackle reversal kit, then rear springs, then install them. Save for some ladder bars and then you have a KICK***** lift.
