cruise control issues

Does anyone have any advice to give when you push the "on" button for the cruise and you get nothing? I have a 2000 7.3.

You're not supposed to get anything when you push on. You have to hit Set/Accel before it will activate.

Check your tail lights, turn signals and also your third brake light. If you have a bad connection or a bulb with a loose filament it won't let your cruise come on.

The only reason I know this is I had a similar problem. My third brake light was burnt out but it was making enough contact and shorting out as the truck moved to make the cruise think the braks lights where on. I replaced the buld and the problem was solved.

Well he made a point to say it was the "on" button. I thought maybe he wasn't familiar with the cruise on these trucks but rather on some other car or something. Honestly after working in a dealership, though not a Ford dealership, I have seen quiestions come in like this all the time. Sometimes people are used to another manufacturer. So I guess it may have been a little smart assed but a little sincere too.
