auto lock hubs

my hubs were locking and not unlocking. no vaccuum leak noted. heater and a/c worked fine. i took them out. filled with light oil, let set for a few minutes. they seemed to functuion more freely when working them manually. dumped the oil and reinstalled them. is there any problem with doing this. i really like having the auto hubs. and would like to keep them.

I don't think so ... but ... I think it will only be a temporary fix. I too liked the convenience of the auto hubs, but I didn't like that they often did not disengage. Eventually I gave in and ditched them.

cleaning worked for one but the other has something not working internally. it will not click into the unlocked position. guess i am going for the MILE MARKER SUPREME. read a comparison between them and warn. they are iron inside instead of aluminum. only place warn out did them was sealing out water in deep water crossings. and they are 1/2 the cost of warn

yeah, when the weather gets bad i will probably just leave them locked all the time. costs about 1.5 mpg. but the snow and muck does too. so no big deal.
