Non-hiway fuel

I had a thought this am. ( scary I know). Isn't off-road diesel high sulfur? ( ie we can run it in our older PSD's ( pre 2007 ) without having to add an additive ( and its cheaper)? Or will it mess something up? I have no idea so I thought I'd ask someone who knows more than me.

It is a pretty big fine for using it. It is cheaper because it has less or no taxes. That would be like taking money right out of Obamas pocket.
I say use it

truck should run the same using offroad.......just keep a half a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil in the truck (cause its red)......should ya ever get dipped, your adding Marvel Mystery Oil to the tank for lubricity purposes..................I might know of a couple fellas that may have tried this and got their tanks dipped.........told them that and they walked away......your still taking a chance, but if your a gambling man.........

Like I said, I may or may not know a fella that has done it, and not been hassled about it when he explained the lubricity of '''old diesel''' vs. ULSD, and showed them the bottle....

pretty slick idea right there

They're both the SAME fuel. They come out of the same tank at the bulk plant. Refined exactly the same.

The only difference is color. Period.

Auto trans fluid is also that color red...but I've heard of the diesel cops pushing the issue and sending a sample in for lab work. Apparently the dye in off road fuel is still identifiable even with ATF and MMO in the fuel.

This used to be true. Off Road is low sulfur, 500 ppm. On Road is now ultra low sulfur, 15 ppm. You can't run off road in a DPF equipped truck, succesfully.

Isnt the fine for this around $10,000? That is a hugh gamble and much cheaper
just to add some proven lubrication. There have been some studies done on most of the
stuff out there. Boi-D is the best, MMO actually showed to make the fuel have less
lubrication.
