Just a few questions

I have a few questions I'd like to ask.

1: What is "big oil"? I see this term on DP Tuners site and would like to know what the term means.
2: What are the difference in the stage I or II injectors? Is this a generic term? I thought injectors came in CC's
3: In Pontiacross's thread about his truck the talks about SHO Mods. What does that refer too?
4: What does Hybrid Injectors refer to? (I know it has nothing to do with a Prius)

Thanks in advance

Eric

Great questions, Eric.

1. Big Oil refers to aftermarket HPO systems available through companies such as Terminator, Stealth, BTS, and others. The HEUI system on Ford 7.3 (and to some extent, 6.0) engines is what drives the injectors. The aftermarket systems provide higher pressures to feed larger injector systems (such as Stage I, Stage II, B-codes and Hybrids)

2. "Stage I" and "Stage 2" and so on are simply marketing terms for larger than stock injectors. You are correct that injectors flow different CC's depending upon how they are built. Stage 1's normally flow 160cc's while 2's flow 180cc's - seems to be the standard but may not always be accurate.

3. SHO mods are modifications performed on (I think only 7.3) injectors to change the method/amount of oil that flows through them. Sort of a hush-hush/semi-proprietary performance modification only done by a few injector builders. Not certain that we've seen live results from anyone running them in regards to dyno #'s or drag racing. Maybe they are out there, but they aren't big news.

3. Hybrids are A-code injectors modified to accept B-code parts (or vice-versa, although I suppose these are called "Reverse Hybrids"). A-codes being injectors made specifically for the 444/7.3 liter engines while B-codes are made specifically for 466 engines.

That may or may not be completely accurate information, but it's my cursory understanding of each topic (each of which could, and have started all sorts of great discussions).
