S&B intake noise question.....What is this??

Ok I have noticed a strange question since the install of my S&B intake. I have noticed that when the engine is cold and I start my truck (now this is after a few seconds of running) it makes a sound like a real deep sucking sound at the intake and then it goes away?????? What in the world does it do that for?? Also I have noticed more black smoke since the install of the intake. I am running a power pup and I was before the install. I do not remember that much smoke before. Is the S&B not a real great intake?? Also the previous stock intake a had a K&N drop in filter in it just for reference. Thanks in advance.

My Tymar does the same thing. I think you can just here everything working better without all that crazy plastic box. I also have more smoke since I added the intake. Not tons, but noticeable where it wasn't before.

I think youre fine.

The deep weird sound right after you start it is the EBPV closing and opening. I never really noticed mine till i Opened up the exhaust. Perfectly normal, just weird when you first really hear it.

Thanks man. Hey CFRO did you have any trouble installing your MBRP exhaust with your manual tranny? I had to remove part of the crossmember to install mine.

Its your Exhaust Backpressure valve. Completely normal, it is strange that it is turning on when its as warm as it is. What is your morning air temps?

Yep, had to take out a piece of the crossmember under the tranny.

I had to remove it also. MBRP has sent a few pieces of pipe for me to try. I am going to install the last piece they sent when time allows. Hopefully the brace for the crossmember can be put back in then.
