EGT, BST, TFT Etc...

I'm installing my Edge Evolution this weekend. Before I drilled a hold in my exhaust manifold for the EGT's I hooked it up just to see what kind of difference it made and if it was worth while. Well ... I like it!

One of the features I like is the monitoring of vital information as listed above. What I don't know however is what parameters I should be in so that I don't damage anything.

At the moment, without hooking up the EGT's these are the readings I have.

BST topped at 18
TFT hovered around 185

I have other options to monotor as well. Should I monitor engine oil temps? If so what should they be?

Thanks Guys!

In my opinion, monitoring the engine oil temps would not be paramount unless you do lots of racing or heavy towing. For "normal" driving, the oil temp should be somewhat near the radiator fluid temp. In the winter the oil will most likely be a bit less than rad fluid temp, and summer it will most likely be a bit above rad fluid temp. When you stomp on the throttle, the oil temps are going to skyrocket, and quickly. Don't be surprised to see 300 degrees (or more) going up a hill with a load of dirt in the bed.

Cool, thanks!

I got the EGT sensor in.

As far as Trans Temp, EGT's and Boost what's the max I should see before I get worried? I can set the Edge to alert me if I am exceeding certain levels.

For boost, you want to stay under 30 psi. Above 35 requires head studs, between 30 to 35 is risky.

Your EGT's should be kept under 1150 safely. I think 1250 is the max, but for short time period only. (such as a 1/4 mile drag run)

For the trans temp, I won't comment. Asking this question will most likely start a bloody war. If I was you, I'd do a search.

Cool thank you again!

I did some test runs on the different settings and everything seems to be ok.

Trans stayed around 155 - 160, creeping up to 170 at stop lights.

Boost went no higher than 21.

EGT's got as high as 1300 during WOT 40-80 mph run but immediately went back down to the 550-600 range at 70 mph 2k rpm's.

I like it!
