I've got a 4" ATS exhaust with a muffler, and it is loud as h*ll. When I drive by a tall building next to the road, I always roll down the window, and downshift so I can hear the reverberation.

I get the birdie from folks when I pass them on the highway at full throttle. They get an earful even with the windows up. I'm told it sounds like the door skins are rattling apart.

When I'm towing a big load for long distances, the drone gets to be quite annoying though.

If you are planning on trading your truck in, I would get another 7.3. Low mileage trucks can still be found. Or, get one with the 6.4 liter engine.

4 or 5 depends on what you plan on doing with the truck... Leaving about the same then
the 4 is fine.... Going way up with injectors, 500hp+, more more more.. Then 5-in
would be the way to go.

You really didnt provide enough info for an educated reply.
