7.3 died tonight.

So I just changed CPS and it stopped cutting out while driving. Thought I got it fixed.

Tonight after about 250 mile run today half of it pulling a small runabout boat. Like a 16 ft with outboard. So no heavy loads.

The truck died. Would start but run for about 5 seconds and then done.

I can hear the fuel pump. If its the fuel pump, where is it and how much is it gonna cost me?

Plan on fuel filter tomorrow.

So what next.

fuel pump is under the driver side door mounted on the inside of the frame rail. I would try to get a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to the truck and check the fuel pressure. I have heard others on here state similar problems and find out that the fuel pump could not maintain enough pressure to keep the truck running after it starts.

Changed fuel filter. It helped but no fix. It will now idle. But does not run when on the gas.

Guess I need to try fuel pump. Anyhthing else I should try prior to fuel pump?

I know this is going to sound odd, but when is the last time the oil was changed and is it up to snuff on the stick? Oil pressure drives the injectors...low oil or no oil = no pressure to the injectors.

Checked oil, 2 quarts low.

Truck is running fine at this point.

New fuel filter and topping off the oil seemed to help out for now.

Thanks again.

Two quarts shouldn't make enough of a difference in how it runs unless you're having oil supply issues elsewhere - HPOP or LPOP (doubtful on the LPOP, though).

I would check wiring connections to the fuel pump as well as the actual output.

1. Place clean catch basin under fuel bowl drain.

2. Open fuel bowl drain.

3. Turn key on and allow to run for 30 seconds.

4. Turn key off and close fuel bowl drain.

5. Measure amount of fuel in catch basin.

6. Hope somebody posts up the amount you should be able to measure because I can't find the flow rate right now
