howling noise while on the highway

I have a 02 f250 with the 7.3L, edge evolution, and a DIY intake. the other day i was on the highway and i was goin around 70mph and all of a sudden i start hearing this howling noise that sounded like a blower kicked on or something. Any ideas?

It was probably the turbo. Were you ascending a hill?

Do you have an automatic or standard trans?

I would check the intercooler boots, probably one sprung a leak.

might have been your fan clutch.

most people dont realize how loud their fan is untill they hear the clutch spinning up the fan faster than usual.

do you live in a warm area?

I would go for the fan also, if the turbo made that much noise it would need
replacing. Turbo is always spinning and should just make a bit more of
a whine under load. The fan when locked can make a bunch or noise.

Was probably 100+ out that day with the AC on high, right?
