help please 16yr old wont start

hello, i have owned this truck for about 3 weeks its a 1996 f-250 powerstroke with 153k on it i was told all parts are original. the truck is in excellent condition with only a few very minor dents and a small dime sized bit of surface rust at the wheel well. this truck has been babied. so it came to me as a surprize when last week it didnt start my buddy was messing with it and was pushing on the gas and flooded her. i just had to try every couple of hours and then just allowed extra time for the wts light to go out and wait for about 1min and a half and she fired up. so a couple days ago a was rlly stupid and i left the radio on i thought i had ran down the batteries so we charged them still didnt even turn over tried to jump it same story. so i ran down to the auto parts store and picked up a new solenoid same thing just click. then i had remembered this swith i had found on the drivers side beneath the back seat i switched it up and it turned over fine now from the countless atempts to start the truck my dad and i believe its flooded because it will turn over and not fire up i would apreciate any help at all i am only 16 so this is a very stressful situation also could this be the glow plugs or injectors remember both me and my dad are 100% new to diesel so i really need some advice from you guys you know what your talking about thanks

Well to ease you up. Its not flooded

Do a couple things first watch your tach while cranking. See if it moves if it doesn't move most likely the CPS is shot. No big deal, $25, 10mm wrench and its fixed. (I'll bet that is your culprit)

If thats not it

Next check your oil level, check your fuel bowl(see if there is fuel in it)

what? how did water get on the turbo? check for fuel pressure after you do what the other guys told you to check... only a couple reason why a diesel won't start. and 99% of the time its no fuel.

I am confused about the water thing too. do you get smoke out the exhaust while cranking it now. no smoke means it isn't injecting fuel. could mean no fuel pressure, no oil pressure , or somthing electronicly...

96 F250 - Please use some punctuation. Your messages are very difficult to read.

You need to figure out what that switch is connected to.

Like other have said, a "flooded" diesel will blow white smoke out the tail pipe. If
no start and getting white smoke the there is an glow plug issue. If cranking
and no hint of white smoke then there is no fuel.

If no smoke, pop open the fuel bowl, it should be full... If not you could just be out of fuel, of have a intank or fuel pump issue.

Its summer and he's in Ohio. Should be plenty warm there to start without the glow plugs...

First thing I'd do is the CPS.

The batteries or starter may be on their way out also. If you don't have enough cold cranking amps coming from the batteries, the truck will not start. Take the batteries in and get them tested beofre forking over good money on new ones.

Post up and let us know what you have found out.
